Professor Jakob Grove earned his PhD in Mathematics but has spent most of his career in the health sciences. He initially worked in epidemiology and biostatistics before moving into psychiatric genetics, statistical genetics, and bioinformatics. As one of the key architects of the design behind the highly influential iPSYCH study, he has played a central role in advancing genetic research across numerous psychiatric disorders and neurodevelopmental traits. Autism constitutes his main area of research, with a particular interest in understanding the structure of heterogeneity. His group develops and applies cutting-edge statistical and bioinformatics approaches to unravel the genetic architecture of complex traits and disorders. Their research encompasses both common and rare genetic variants, gene-environment interactions, and innovative uses of polygenic predictors.
