Autism Research Institute

The Autism Research Institute (ARI) is a structure within the University of Cambridge to oversee and integrate autism research in Cambridge. This ensures that the three centres (the Autism Research Centre, the K. Lisa Yang Centre for Autism Research in Cambridge, and the K. Lisa Yang Autism Clinical Translation Centre) all work in a coordinated and harmonious way, complementing each other’s efforts and exchanging latest research and models of clinical good practice.

Funding is overseen by the Managers of Trust Funds appointed by the University, and oversight is provided by a panel of scientific advisors and experts with lived experience. All three Centres within Cambridge include autistic researchers, some of whom choose not to disclose their diagnosis publicly. The overarching goal of the ARI is to conduct excellent autism research and evaluate models of excellent clinical practice, in the service of autistic people and their families, and co-designed with them.
